We are hiring! ➡️ The Cell Biology of the Synapse Lab at Humanitas Research Hospital (Milan, Italy) is looking for a highly motivated PhD candidate to join the PhD Program in Molecular, Experimental and Computational Medicine (MECM) Humanitas University. This project is carried out in close collaboration with Massimiliano Buoli, Andrea Costantino, and Luca Ferrari at Ospedale Policlinico di Milano and Università degli Studi di Milano, providing a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary network bridging molecular neuroscience, environmental exposure, and clinical research. 💡 The project Schizophrenia spectrum disorders are complex psychiatric conditions arising from the interplay of genetic predisposition and environmental factors—yet the mechanisms linking these components remain largely unknown. This PhD project will explore a novel and emerging concept: 👉 circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) as key mediators of environmental influences on brain function The candidate will investigate EVs derived from patients exposed to modifiable environmental factors, including air pollution and diet, and characterize how they impact neuronal function and synaptic biology. ❗A plus Experience in molecular neuroscience, cell culture, and cellular biology would be highly valuable. 🗓️ Start date December, 1st 2026 📩 How to apply Please send a cover letter including the names of two former supervisors to [email protected]
