Wanna test project management skills? Lead 2 dozen people on an European Vacation! Think about it. Start with a goal. Then build a plan, develop a budget, manage stakeholders (family+friends 😄), identify risks, create contingencies, and execute. Over the past 11 days, my wife and I along with 20+ friends navigated: • ✈️ Multiple international flights • 🚢 An 8-day Baltic Sea cruise • 🌍 Six countries • 🕒 Multiple time zones • 💶 Four different currencies • 🗣️ Several languages • 🚕 Different transportation systems • 🌦️ Constant weather changes • 📶 Communication challenges • 📅 Tight schedules where one delay could impact everything that followed And just like any project… Not everything went exactly according to plan 🤷‍♂️ But that’s the point. Look— Project management isn’t just about work. It’s about creating value in unique context and often times in uncertain environments. So… Whether you’re leading a multimillion-dollar initiative, coordinating a military operation, or planning a vacation across Europe, the fundamentals are the same: Plan well. Manage risk.
