Technology was supposed to make work easier. It did. It also raised the price of “efficiency”: more speed, more availability, more output - and less human contact. AI will amplify this. Used well, it reduces friction in tasks. Used badly, it reduces contact in teams - and that’s when performance becomes brittle. Because teams don’t run on tools. Teams run on trust, shared meaning, communication, and the ability to disagree without breaking the relationship.
