🇨🇦✈️🇭🇺 Having traveled on the direct flight as part of a delegation back in 2019, it is highly rewarding to witness this vital connection re-established, just as my diplomatic assignment in Toronto reaches its conclusion. Starting yesterday evening, a direct air link once again connects Budapest and Toronto. 👨‍✈️ As we approach the 70th anniversary of the 1956 revolution, it was deeply moving to learn that the inaugural flight is being piloted by a Hungarian-Canadian captain—the son of an '56 Sopron student who settled in British Columbia. He personally requested to command this specific flight. It is a poignant reminder of the countless personal and historical ties that permanently bind our nations together. Since 2020, this milestone has required sustained, complex coordination. This success is a shared determination of our diplomatic missions and the many dedicated institutional and industry stakeholders involved. This new link significantly strengthens Euro-Atlantic cooperation and the economic ties between our nations
