Rural women in Aotearoa are one of the most under-researched groups in New Zealand agriculture. Despite the numbers of women entering farming and agricultural study, there is currently no New Zealand academic research and no national data capturing what their wellbeing looks like. That's what our researchers are setting out to change. Associate Professor Nicky Stanley-Clarke from our School of Social Work is leading the NZ Women in Farming Wellbeing Survey alongside researchers from Lincoln University (NZ). The work launches during national Fieldays® week and in the United Nations International Year of the Woman Farmer. Dr Stanley-Clarke says the need is clear. "International research highlights what's often called the 'triple burden' of managing farm work, caregiving and household responsibilities. In New Zealand, that can also include paid work off the farm and strong commitments to community life, often leaving women with little time to prioritise their own wellbeing." The survey is open until mid-July. If you're a rural woman in Aotearoa, our researchers want to hear from you. Read more and take the survey here: https://lnkd.in/dWef4AjC
