The Most Expensive Quote Isn’t Always the Highest One One of the biggest challenges in the construction and renovation industry today is the race to the bottom on price. A client receives three quotes: £700, £1,500 and £2,000. Naturally, the cheapest option can seem attractive. But the reality is that construction isn’t a commodity—it’s a combination of skilled labour, experience, project management, quality materials, insurance, warranties and accountability. When prices are pushed too low, something usually has to give: • Corners get cut • Quality suffers • Projects run over schedule • Tradespeople are underpaid • Businesses become unsustainable Unfortunately, many clients only discover the true cost of a “cheap” quote when they have to pay someone else to rectify the work later. At the same time, reputable contractors face increasing pressure to justify realistic pricing while competing against quotes that often don’t reflect the true scope of the work. The best projects are built on value, transparency and trust—not simply the lowest number at the bottom of a quotation. Price matters. But so does quality, reliability and getting the job done right the first time. What are your thoughts? Have you ever seen a project where the cheapest quote ended up being the most expensive choice? #Construction #Renovation #PropertyDevelopment #BuildingIndustry #ConstructionManagement #HomeImprovement #Tradespeople #PropertyRefurbishment #BusinessGrowth #ConstructionLife
