I'm happy to share that I had the opportunity to write an article for the Oil special (Öl&Wirtschaft) of the Austrian trade magazine "Auto & Wirtschaft." The brief I was given sounded simple at first: "Just write what a workshop needs to cover the market." In practice, it's anything but simple. With around 5.3 million passenger cars registered in Austria and a growing maze of OEM oil specifications (VW 504/507/508/509, BMW LL, Mercedes-Benz MB, Ford WSS, Renault RN, Stellantis historical PSA/Fiat/Opel rules now consolidating into FPW 9.5535-xx, and more), multi-brand and independent workshops face a real strategic challenge in deciding which oils to stock. In the article I walk through: - How ACEA specifications form the common technical backbone behind most European OEM approvals - Where the real complexity lies (e.g. Stellantis` historical brand diversity) - Where to reliably find the correct oil specification for any given vehicle - Why building a deliberate, lean product strategy beats stocking as many products as possible   A big thank you to Gerald WEISS for the opportunity to contribute to this special issue - it's always a pleasure to bring some clarity to oil specific topics which are more complex than they look from the outside.   You can read the full article (in German) here: https://lnkd.in/dG_x6kYP And see the full Öl-Spezial here: https://lnkd.in/dDWQRSWw   #Lubricants #AutomotiveAftermarket #OilSpecifications #Workshop #AutoUndWirtschaft Please find Gerald’s post here: https://lnkd.in/d5EkyMtJ
