It was good to speak with Kemi Badenoch this week at CEMEX UK Rugby Cement Plant on the challenges facing Britain’s cement makers.  As one of the main ingredients in concrete, the most used construction material in the world, cement is essential to our industrial future. But high energy costs, gaps in current policy and uneven carbon taxation are stifling its competitiveness. The government must take action to level the playing field with international peers. This is fundamental to keeping the economic benefits of cement production - and the well-paid, skilled jobs it provides for working people - on our shores.   #CementingBritainsAmbitions Lex Russell Craig Williamson Jamie Jordan Mineral Products Association CEMEX UK Breedon Group plc Breedon GB Heidelberg Materials UK Holcim UK Tarmac The Conservative Party HM Treasury HM Revenue & Customs Department for Business and Trade Department for Energy Security and Net Zero]
