Planning is critical.
In business, sport, and life, the best results are built on preparation, discipline and consistency over time. Having a clear plan gives you structure, direction and confidence when pressure arrives. But sometimes, despite your best efforts, things simply don’t go to plan. Over the last couple of weeks leading into the The BJJ British Open, I was unable to train at the level I wanted, had a tough weight cut, on antibiotics and went into the competition knowing I was far from ideally prepared, I even contemplated pulling out altogether, it was easy to focus on the reasons why it might not work out. Instead, I reminded myself of something important, sometimes you just need to show up. Show up when you don’t feel fully ready.
Show up when conditions aren’t perfect.
Show up and trust the work you’ve already put in over time. I’m pleased to say that despite the setbacks, I managed to win gold and become the BBJ British Open Champion. A great reminder that while planning matters enormously, resilience, mindset and the willingness to step forward when things aren’t ideal can make all the difference. Preparation gives you the foundation. Character shows itself when the plan changes. 🥇 #Leadership #Mindset #Resilience #Discipline #Performance #GrowthMindset #BJJ #BrazilianJiuJitsu #BritishOpen #ChampionMindset #Consistency #Success #PersonalDevelopment
