SOULFUL PETERBOROUGH In Peterborough, people of different faiths don't just coexist – they look out for each other. For as long as we have existed, we have sought meaning. The questions at the heart of that search are the biggest of all: why are we here, and how should we best spend our brief lives? Over four millennia, thousands of belief systems have risen and fallen in their attempts to answer them. The many faiths that have endured can generate friction – in communities, across the world, and sometimes within ourselves. To find clarity amid the noise, we sat down with representatives of several of Peterborough's most prominent faith communities to talk about the apocalypse, perceptions of the divine, and our search for enlightenment. The Moment spent time with Chris Dalliston, Dean of Peterborough Cathedral; Michelle Dalliston, Vicar of St John the Baptist; Jaspal Singh, President of the Sikh Temple on Royce Road; Rizwan Rahemtulla, a prominent figure in Muslim leadership in Peterborough and beyond; and Rajni Reddy, who founded the city's beloved Diwali Festival in 2012. As Peterborough's Inter-Faith Council approaches its 50th year, this feature asks the questions our divided world urgently needs to answer. It is full of warmth, candour and genuine hope – at a time when we could all use a little more of each.
