My Reflection on Dale Carnegie’s 'How to Win Friends and Influence People' The book by Dale Carnegie is one of the most popular books of the last century. While it is now close to 90 years since its first publication, it is still relevant in today's society. Its enduring relevance over the decades and wide reach across cultures tells something about human psychology. That some of its principles transcend time and cultures. In this age of technology and AI, the book reminds us that our real competitive advantage is human. The narrative central to the book is that building solid relationships both in our personal and professional lives requires that we put others at the center. By demonstrating empathy towards others, we are able to build on trust, which leads to deeper connections, avoidance of conflict, and enhanced collaboration. A big takeaway for me is that the most effective way of influencing people is by understanding them. Their goals, feelings, motivations, and needs. Influence is not through authority alone but through sincere interest in others and the ability to see things through other's perspectives. #leadership #Personal development #Communication #Dale Carnegie
