Did anyone calculate what charging/grid infrastructure is required for 250.000 BETs in the Netherlands? ... in context with other electrification needs in other sectors? Initiation/low market share of the BEVs have a relatively low threshold as the electrical infrastructure is already in place. As soon as market shares increase and become significant the situation changes however ... A common well known figure gives that molecules are 10-20x more cost-effective to transport and 50-100x more cost-effective to store. This besides the shorter realization time and much lower spatial/landscape impact. Good that this is getting more awareness and investments are made in alternatives, including infrastructure. In contradiction to electricity, alternatives have a relatively high initial threshold as infrastructure is not in place, but on the long run they are more faster, cost-effective and better scalable ...
