University Lecturer at Tampere University

I am proud to share that on Friday, 14th November, Alessio D'Aquino successfully defended his doctoral thesis titled ‘Denitrification Under Salinity Stress in Biofilm Reactors’ at the Tampere University, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (ENS), Finland. The thesis was cotutelle with Università di Trento Department of Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering. This was my first time in the role of custos and also first experience of cotutelle doctoral thesis. Thanks Alessio D'Aquino for making all of this possible. I would like to thank the other supervisors Jaakko Puhakka, Gianni Andreottola, Hannele Auvinen for your enthusiasm and support for Alessio during these four years. The opponents Anna Mikola, Elisangela Heiderscheidt and Stefano Papirio did an amazing job during the defense. You provided both positive feedback and constructive criticism in a balanced manner. I hope to collaborate with all of you in the future. I also wish to acknowledge the funding support from Maa- ja vesitekniikan tuki ry, Emil Aaltosen säätiö, Tutkijat maailmalle programme and ECIU network for making his thesis possible. I wish Alessio all the best for his future career! Dissertation link: https://lnkd.in/dBdzZqnp
