SIXSTO V The Franciscan Felice Peretti di Montalto, of Croatian origin (his father is from dubrovnik countryside from the village of Kruščice in Boka) was a pope named Siksto V. from 1585 to 1590. He's known as a statesman of great authority. He dedicated himself to increasing the reputation of the Holy See and the Papal State. Rome wanted to make it "the capital of the world", and it has undertaken numerous constructions, such as: the dome of St. Peter's Basilica (finished with the calculations of Rugier Bošković), St. Peter's Square. Peter with obelisk, lateran basilica, Kvirinal palace and a multitude of other buildings, renovated about 120 churches and established the Vatican Printing House. He personally worked on the edition of Vulgate, which he proclaimed as the official Catholic Bible in 1590. 1. Basilica of St. Petra
