What if crews could validate complex offshore operations before a vessel even exists? This article explores how human-centred design, supported by advanced simulations and mixed-reality environments, enables iterative testing of an offshore CO₂ transport concept using an Articulated Tug Barge. By combining CFD, model testing and immersive VR simulations, both vessel performance and crew operations are refined in parallel, with continuous feedback from operators. MARIN recently demonstrated this approach for Carbon Collectors by combining virtual reality (VR) and advanced simulator facilities to create a mixed reality environment for operational design validation. Read the full article to discover how these iterative approaches are shaping safer and more efficient maritime operations. 👉Discover the full stories in MARIN Report 147 https://lnkd.in/eGVFD-r6 👉Register to receive future editions https://lnkd.in/e9SCzzNg 👉Subscribe on LinkedIn https://lnkd.in/e8vcXJvb #MaritimeInnovation #CFD #Simulation #DigitalTwin #XR #MaritimeTechnology #ConceptDevelopment
