🚨 Paper Alert: CFD Investigation for Vortex-Induced Vibration of Flexible Risers   Flexible risers and cables are critical components of floating offshore systems, including O&G, offshore wind and solar. Predicting their vortex-induced vibration (VIV) response remains a complex challenge. In this paper, presented at OMAE 2026, we use ReFRESCO CFD with Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) capabilities to simulate VIV of a long flexible riser and compare the results with towing tank experiments. Overall, the CFD simulations showed promising agreement with experiments for key VIV characteristics, including riser response, deformation and mode shapes. This work demonstrates the potential of CFD for VIV prediction while identifying key areas for further development towards engineering applications.
