Wrapping up the MCAA Annual Conference 2026! 👥 After three days of learning and sharing, the closing ceremony of our flagship event provided final reflections on the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) and its greatest strength: the people who bring the programme to life.   The closing remarks were delivered by:   ▪️ Vanessa Debiais-Sainton, Head of Department Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions & Support to Experts at the European Research Executive Agency (REA), who reminded us that Europe’s future as a strong powerhouse for research and innovation depends on investing in researchers at the start of their careers.   ▪️ Lucy Swan, Deputy Head of Unit at the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture, European Commission, who emphasised the importance of ensuring the attractiveness and sustainability of research careers while preserving excellence through a bottom-up approach that defines the MSCA.   ▪️ Mathias Schroijen, Project Manager at Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and the local host of this year’s conference, who encouraged the MSCA community to be attentive, listen deeply, be humble, and stay open moving forward.   ▪️ Gledson Emidio, MCAA Community Manager, who highlighted that excellence thrives when people feel they belong, and the MCAA’s role in fostering this environment. The closing ceremony was marked by a meaningful moment, as Gian Maria Greco addressed the community in what was his final conference as Chair of the MCAA. He reflected on the importance of holding this year's conference in Brussels at a critical moment where ongoing budget and governance discussions will impact the future of research, particularly the MSCA programme.   Greco also reflected on his journey in the MCAA Board that began four years ago, first as an Ordinary Board Member and then Chair. Looking back, he leaves his role with pride, noting that the MCAA’s growth over the years is the result of a collective effort by members, volunteers, and professionals who have contributed to building a stronger, more mature Association. He expressed gratitude to the community, confidence in the strength and legitimacy of the MCAA, and hope for a brighter future.     During the ceremony, the winners of the poster presentations and lightning talks were announced. Stay tuned for updates on it soon! Thank you for joining us at our flagship event at the ULB in Brussels and online! 🤝    #MCAAConf2026
