๐Ÿ“ I am thrilled to announce the publication of my article: "Chat Control and the Repercussions of Mandatory Communication Detection: Reconciling the EU Child Sexual Abuse Regulation Proposal (2022/0155) with Fundamental Rights, Privacy and Cybersecurity Standards." While combating the dissemination of Child Sexual Abuse Material online is an undeniably compelling public interest objective, the EUโ€™s proposed permanent transition from voluntary to mandatory scanning introduces profound systemic vulnerabilities. In this paper, I argue that a sustainable regulatory framework must protect digital autonomy and prevent intrusive surveillance infrastructures by prioritizing technical viability, cybersecurity, and robust fundamental rights safeguards. By analyzing these measures from a technical perspective, I examine the operational limitations, manipulation risks, and false-positive rates of mass scanning technologies, such as perceptual hashing and AI classifiers, that threaten end-to-end encryption. ๐Ÿ’กWhether you are passionate about privacy, cryptography, or the future of EU digital policy, I invite you to dive into the full text for a comprehensive look at the critical friction between security and digital rights. ๐Ÿ–‡๏ธ:https://lnkd.in/dbQuzTc7 A sincere thank you to the editorial board of the Trento Student Law Review or their dedication and support throughout the publication process. #DataProtection #PrivacyLaw #Cybersecurity #EUlaw #ChatControl #DigitalRights #TrentoStudentLawReview #AcademicPublishing #GDPR #E2EE
