Two papers by Max Planck have been retracted by Springer Nature, Yves Gingras, a historian of physics at the University of Quebec at Montreal noted. Why? In Science Magazine Suzanne Scarlata, editor-in-chief of The Science of Nature, which used to be known as Naturwissenschaften when it published the two Planck papers long ago, "suspects Springer Nature’s internal policing software removed the papers without human intervention." One wonders: have more papers disappeared in this way? 'Springer Nature only posted a blank white page with the cryptic phrase, “This article has been withdrawn due to article violation.” Springer Nature was nevertheless still selling the empty PDF for $39.95 until this story was published.' https://lnkd.in/ekWdSked
