Language is not only vocabulary acquisition, but also identity, reasoning, connection, and expression 💬. And when we’re talking about multilingual learners (MLLs), that’s exactly why translanguaging matters. A student who’s encouraged to use all their language resources to process ideas, collaborate, and demonstrate understanding is a student who feels empowered to express ideas and try things. Research and classroom experience continue to show that translanguaging strengthens comprehension, deepens engagement, and supports English development while affirming students’ cultural and linguistic identities.
