Vice president new Business bei BMW Group
At this year’s IAA, I had the privilege of joining Dr. Lioudmila Simon and Alexander Pippert at the E.ON New Energy Experience 2025 to share a milestone: Together, BMW Group and E.ON are launching Germany’s first commercial Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) product for private customers. With our Neue Klasse and its bidirectional charging capability, the car becomes more than just a means of transport, it evolves into an intelligent part of the energy system. Starting in January 2026, customers in Germany will be able to integrate their BMW iX3 into the energy market, creating tangible benefits: 🚀 Up to €720 in annual savings - the equivalent of driving around 14,000 km at no charging costs - while supporting grid stability and the energy transition. 🌱💰 And this is just the beginning. To unlock the full potential of V2G, we will: 1. Ensure interoperability with Home Energy Management Systems (HEMS), so vehicles, wallboxes, and homes work seamlessly together. 2. Help shape the regulatory framework in Europe to make all use cases of bidirectional charging available to customers and the energy system. 3. Scale across markets by expanding our partnership with E.ON and collaborating with further energy players across Europe. For us at BMW, electric mobility is not just zero-emission driving, it’s about creating a holistic ecosystem that connects vehicles, homes, and the energy system. With strong partners like E.ON, we are determined to make electric mobility simple, economical, and sustainable for our customers. #BMWGroup #E.ON #IAA2025 #BidirectionalCharging #V2G #NeueKlasse #BMWiX3 #Electromobility #EnergyTransition
