This article is a snapshot of my shift from “make it work” scientific code to software that’s easier to change, test, and review. A surprising influence was Functional Programming in Scala, not for Scala itself, but for some important lessons about code structure and purpose. I also share how ArjanCodes helped me connect patterns to the “why.”
