"A nation determined to fight for its freedom and independence is invincible." — Ruben Um Nyobè On September 13, 1958, French colonial forces assassinated Ruben Um Nyobè in the forests of Boumnyebel, Cameroon. He was the first African leader to stand before the United Nations General Assembly and demand his country's independence, a bold act that cost him his life. For decades, his name was silenced. Cameroonians were forbidden to even speak it in public. Yet his memory endures as a symbol of resistance against colonial violence and the long, unfinished struggle for true self-determination in Africa. History remembers those who dared to speak truth to power — even when power tried to erase them. Source of video: X (Twitter) See less
