A first for Fika Friday at the Office. 🎙️ This week, Ram Puranam welcomed two guests from Ingka Group | IKEA: Jette Jørgensen, Managing Director for Ingka Group Multifunctional Hubs, and Thomas Olofsson, Multi-Functional Hub Manager in Bangalore. Jette started at IKEA in 1987 by accident, taking a wrong exit on an Australian highway and driving into a construction site that happened to be the future home of an IKEA store. Thomas started as a forklift driver in Älmhult, the birthplace of IKEA, and eventually made his way to Shanghai, Zurich and Bangalore. Between the two of them, that is over 65 years of IKEA experience in one room. A few things worth sitting with: > Being together is not just a nice idea at IKEA. It is a minimum of three days a week, and both guests mean it. > Activity-based working is only effective when the office is designed around what people actually need to do that day. > Some of the best decisions at IKEA started in a Fika break. Including at least one unexpected hire. > And if someone invites you for a Fika, you do not say no.
