If you're 21, these are the 10 things I'd optimize over the next 10 years: 1. Get into the best professional course or university you can. It will quietly compound for the next 20 years. 2. Lift weights. Sleep well. Eat enough protein. Your 30-year-old self will thank you. 3. Spend a semester or year working abroad. You'll return with a different lens on work, money and life. 4. Find 2-3 people you can call at 2 AM. Life gets harder. Good friends become rarer. 5. Spend more time with your parents. One day you'll realize they grew old while you were busy growing up. 6. Build boundaries early. Not everyone deserves unlimited access to your time. 7. Save money even when you don't need to. Cash buys optionality. 8. Write. Create. Build in public. LinkedIn, X, YouTube, Instagram...pick one. The feedback loop will force you to level up. 9. Stay away from drugs. Go easy on alcohol. Very few people regret doing less of either. 10. Master arithmetic, economics and communication. Those three skills compound in almost every career.
