The 14th story in the series was the first of many occasions where I had the privilege of stepping on the stage with my students. The six students who won the award are all professionals today. At least one of them is a homeowner. Their lives changed forever. There is no doubt that each and every one of them would have been as or more successful with or without the FDD scholarship and the authorship of their own story, but the storytelling experience gave them identity, a design, an opportunity of growth like no other experience in their lifetime until that moment.
