The best way to predict the future is to shape it!
🏙️ 🏭 🚙 Urban and regional planning concerns us all! 💬 A few days ago, I had the opportunity to give an interview alongside William Fuhrer on the significance of good urban und regional development and the challenges it faces. Even though my day-to-day professional work now only partially involves these issues, my interest in them—and my enthusiasm for discussing related questions and potential solutions—remains very strong. As an alumnus of the BSc Urban and Regional Planning and the interdisciplinary MSc Globalization, Environment and Social Change at the Kulturgeografiska institutionen Stockholms universitet, I was able to recall many discussions and topics from my exciting time as a student. The questions we grappled with back then remain central today and have often even become more urgent. 🏫 With our strategic focus area “Thriving Spaces,” we at Berner Fachhochschule BFH can contribute significantly to this societal challenge through our extensive expertise and our many transdisciplinary projects. We need new ideas, collaborations and, above all, a new, holistic mindset to successfully tackle this transformational challenge in areas such as housing, mobility, construction, biodiversity, energy, climate adaptation etc., in order to develop sustainable and socially responsible solutions. For me personally, this also brings things full circle between my time as a student and my current role as Head of Sustainable Development. 🙏 Thank you Christian Schultz, for the idea and for conducting this interview. ⁉️ 💬 And now it’s your turn: What do you see as the major challenges, and how can we tackle them together while taking everyone’s needs into account? I look forward to all your input and ideas so that we can continue to pursue our vision of Thriving Spaces.
