Sustainability is not a solo effort. When people talk about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the focus is usually on issues like climate action, clean water, or sustainable production. Yet it’s often overlooked that many of these goals share a common prerequisite: collaboration. That is precisely why SDG 17 – “Partnerships for the Goals” – plays a special role. After all, sustainable development rarely happens in isolation. It emerges when businesses, academia, policymakers, and society work together to find solutions. This is especially true for complex challenges such as air quality, water treatment, or the transformation of industrial processes. No single organization possesses all the resources, the full range of expertise, or the necessary reach to tackle these challenges on its own. This philosophy also shapes our daily work. To further develop solutions for cleaner mobility, cleaner air, cleaner water, and cleaner industry, we collaborate with customers, research institutions, technology partners, and many other stakeholders along the value chain. Our experience shows that the crucial question is often not who has the best idea. What matters most is how quickly different partners can pool their knowledge and develop concrete solutions from it. Which partnership has made the biggest difference in practice – and why? #MannHummel #Sustainability #Partnerships
