A DAY WITH A BOARD MEMBER Some job titles can be found across many companies. Head of Technical Service, for example. But what tasks and challenges are really behind a title like that? And what kind of career path leads to this position? To give our apprentices exactly these insights, we created our Insight Management Day, where they get to shadow members of our management team for a full day. IN THIS EDITION: JAMIE AND ANDREAS ➡️ Jamie is completing his apprenticeship as a Process Mechanic with us. ➡️ Andreas leads our Technical Team, which supports our customers all over the world. THE TAKEAWAYS ➡️ For a Head of Technical Service, management means a lot of meetings: jour fixes, product development rounds, and coordination with other Mankiewicz Group locations. ➡️ Management also means making decisions quickly and thoughtfully, or helping others do the same. It is about gathering and sharing information, then turning it into concrete actions. The technical range is broad, from raw materials to Technical Service coordination 10,000 km away. Between meetings and management insights, there was also plenty of room to talk about career paths and life outside work. ➡️ Andreas shared very personal insights into how his career developed, shaped by China, Germany, a lot of Mankiewicz DNA, and deep coatings market expertise. ➡️ Jamie gave Andreas a look at how Mankiewicz and the technical coatings world are perceived from an apprentice’s perspective. And he also shared what he learned outside the job as a handball player and coach. After all, handball turns out to be a great place to practice making quick decisions successfully. When two very different roles and two different generations come together, exchange ideas openly, and bring their perspectives together, both sides benefit. And so do we as a company with the Inside Management Day.
