A simple framework I learned during my CMSL journey: Insights → Action → Medical Strategy Sounds simple, but it can make the difference between a successful initiative and one that fails to create value. One of my key learnings was that Medical Strategy should be informed by real-world insights, not assumptions. Before launching an educational program, patient support initiative, or scientific campaign, ask: What is the actual gap? Is it: • Delayed diagnosis? • Poor patient education? • Treatment positioning? • Safety concerns? • Lack of guideline awareness? What do KOLs see in clinical practice? The best insights often come from meaningful scientific exchange with healthcare experts who understand the realities of patient care. What does the patient journey tell us? A solution is only effective if it fits the needs and behaviors of the patients it is designed to support. For MSLs and Medical Affairs professionals, this means that insight gathering is not just a task it is a strategic responsibility. The better we understand physicians, patients, and clinical practice, the better we can design initiatives that truly address unmet needs. Medical Strategy is not about executing ideas. It's about using insights to identify the right problem, then building the right solution.
