Is the SmPC still fit for purpose in relation to adverse effects. I have started this twice and LinkedIn has deleted due to their error so will be brief and follow me for further thoughts and expanded views. They come with a warning they don’t imply causality. They may be wrong in their frequency as no record of patient exposure is give, if a patient experiences one they give NO indication of the chance of causality. The two major recent flaws and additional issues include 1) . The recentl lancet publication of AEs on statins , which I totally disagree with on its interpretation and belittles the SmPC accuracy totally. 2) secondly the SmPC for metronidazole definitively states it causes an Antabuse type reaction with alcohol and recent evidence negates that but doctors, pharmacist and labelling should continue to warn. Many more issues and problems which will be explored of importance to,practicing physicians, pharmacists, parients and the courts with medico-legal opinions. Follow me for the expanded story don’t want to loose this important post a third time.
