I’m thrilled to share our recent publication titled “Orbital torques and orbital pumping in two-dimensional rare-earth dichalcogenides” in npj Computational Materials! In this work, we explore ferromagnetic Janus monolayers of EuSP, EuSSe, and EuSCl, showing that colossal current-induced orbital responses of the Eu f-electrons give rise to strong spin-orbit torques. We further reveal an intriguing in-plane orbital pumping effect, where magnetization dynamics generate orbital currents with non-trivial polarization — opening a new route for orbitronics in 2D materials. I’m grateful to my co-authors Prof. Dongwook Go, Prof. Mathias Kläui, Prof. Wulf Wulfhekel, Prof. Stefan Blügel, and Prof. Yuriy Mokrousov for their inspiring collaboration and valuable contributions to this work. 📄 Access the publication here: https://lnkd.in/epSWdrz2
