Two brothers from Nagpur just created history. Ajinkya Gandhe and Vikram Gandhe recently won MasterChef India, becoming the first brother duo to lift the trophy. What fascinated me even more was their creativity — experimenting with global ingredients and giving Indian classics a new twist. One such idea that caught my attention was Matcha Shrikhand — blending Japanese matcha with a traditional Indian dessert. For me, this story felt very personal. My hometown is Nagpur — Mera Gaon, Mera Desh. And for the last 30 years, I have been living and working in Japan. So when I see young chefs from my hometown experimenting with Japanese ingredients and presenting them to Indian audiences, it feels like two worlds that shaped my life are coming together on one plate. This is what cultural bridges look like. India’s rich culinary tradition meeting Japan’s unique ingredients. Nagpur’s creativity meeting global inspiration. It reminds me of one simple truth: 👉 No matter how far we travel in the world, our roots always travel with us. Proud moment for Nagpur. Mera Gaon. Mera Desh.
