'Simulation of #ShieldingEffectiveness in the Virtual #ReverberationChamber' will be the topic of our next #EMCProfessionalTalk, which will be given by Andreas Barchanski (Dassault Systèmes, Dassault Systèmes Deutschland GmbH - SIMULIA). When: Wednesday, April 29, 2026 Time: 4:00 p.m. (UTC+2, CEST) via Zoom video conference Further information: https://lnkd.in/drSeaFce Abstract: Early-stage characterization of shielding effectiveness (SE) is essential for ensuring system-level electromagnetic integrity. In this presentation we discuss the simulation of shielding effectiveness (SE) from three different perspectives: Solver Validation: A benchmarking of numerical simulation results against analytical equations to quantify accuracy and point out differences in the computation methods. Source Configuration and VRC Methodology: An investigation into the impact of varying source and probe topologies on SE. We introduce a virtual reverberation chamber (VRC) simulation flow designed to reduce computational complexity by substituting a reverberation chamber by synthesized field sources. These sources are generated using a randomized plane wave methodology, which allows to recreate a statistically uniform field without the overhead of physical stirrer and chamber modeling. High-Voltage Application: A case study applying these simulation flows to assess the shielding performance of a vehicle battery enclosure, accounting for complex geometries. About the speaker: Andreas Barchanski received his M.Sc. in Physics in 2003 and his Ph.D. in Electromagnetic Field Computation from Technische Universität Darmstadt University of Technology in 2007. He has worked in the field of EMC simulation for more than 18 years, first at CST AG and later at Dassault Systèmes SIMULIA. During this time, he has supported and trained engineers at leading companies worldwide, helping them to adopt advanced simulation methods for #EMC challenges. As a product planner for the EMC capabilities of the CST Studio Suite, he develops simulation workflows, methodologies, and features that help simulation engineers. Since 2019, Andreas leads a global team of experts in signal integrity (SI), power integrity (PI), and EMC. He is the author of the book “EMC Simulation of Electronic Systems” and also shares practical insights into electromagnetics through his YouTube channel. Organization: Dr.-Ing.
