Early this morning, someone shared with me a LinkedIn post written by a businesswoman who had finally decided to clear out her inbox. Buried among some legitimate business enquiries were dozens of messages from men who had absolutely no interest in her work, her business, or her expertise. Their interest was entirely personal. Unfortunately, anyone who has spent enough time building a public profile knows exactly what she was talking about. What caught my attention even more was one of the responses. A man suggested that because she had chosen to post a photograph of herself, she shouldn't really be surprised by the attention she received. After all, visibility attracts attention. If the photograph helps her business, then, by implication, she should simply accept the rest. Which, naturally, made me want to right a few wrongs.
