Some books teach you new skills. A few books change the way you see people. For me, Surrounded by Idiots by Thomas Erikson is one of those books. When I first picked it up, I expected another book on personality types. Instead, it completely changed how I approach conversations, relationships, and even conflicts. The biggest takeaway for me was simple: Not everyone thinks, communicates, or makes decisions the way we do and that’s perfectly okay. One chapter that really stayed with me is “No One Is Completely Perfect.” It reminds us that every personality has its own strengths and weaknesses. What we often see as someone’s weakness may simply be a different way of thinking. In my work, where I collaborate with people from different industries and cultures, especially between India and Japan, this perspective has been incredibly valuable. I’ve become more patient, I listen more, and I try to understand people before trying to convince them. I’ve realized that strong communication isn’t about saying the right words. It’s about understanding who’s listening. Thank you, Thomas Erikson, for writing a book that has genuinely influenced the way I work and interact with people every day. What’s one book that has changed the way you understand people? I’d love to add it to my reading list. #Leadership #Communication #PersonalGrowth #EmotionalIntelligence #Learning #SurroundedByIdiots #ThomasErikson #PeopleSkills
