Macquarie University researchers are the proud recipients of a combined $10.5 million in funding from the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) and National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) grant schemes, going towards tackling some of Australia's most pressing health challenges. - Associate Professor Nasir Wabe (AIHI) has been awarded $4M to build OneDementiaHub, an AI-enabled platform closing the dementia care gap for rural and regional communities. - Professor Johanna Westbrook (AIHI) has secured $5M to deliver the Safe-Check Program, moving to evidence-based single-checking to reduce medication errors for children in hospital and free up 500K of nursing hours annually. - Professor Bamini Gopinath and the ANZ Hearing Health Collaborative have been awarded almost $1.5M from the NHMRC to deliver Australia's first national Living Guidelines for Cochlear Implantation in Adults, addressing treatment delays of up to 12 years for a condition also recognised as one of the leading modifiable risk factors for dementia.
