Congratulations to first year engineering student Lauren Blunden who has won a Young Archie Prize 🏆 Her winning self-portrait took about 50 hours to draw in pencil and was inspired by her struggle to decide what to do after high school. “I was always considering whether I should study and do art ‘professionally’ or not. At the end of Year 12, I decided I’d like to use my creativity and problem-solving in a practical career. I'm excited to see where university takes me,” she said Lauren has never taken any art classes outside of school but has been entering the contest “for a bit of fun” since she began high school during the 2020 Covid lockdowns. She chose to pursue a career in STEM so that art can remain a passion. The 70 Young Archie finalists are on display at the Art Gallery of New South Wales until 1 August.
