I thought I knew what an ambitious bet looked like. Then Silicon Valley showed me their idea of a safe one. It took me a week to recalibrate. Last month, DutchTechX invited me to spend a week inside the Valley, not the tourist version. Rooms with e.g Elizabeth Yin (Hustle Fund), Kane Hsieh(Root Ventures), Bastiaan de Goei ( OpenAI). Builders casually on their third unicorn. A Dutch founder closing in on decacorn territory. One rule all week: no holding back. Ask what you never dared to ask. So I did. What rearranged my head was the calibration. Explosive growth isn't the dream there, it's the entry ticket. Everyone is fast because everyone around them is fast. And consensus? Almost a dirty word. The best people wear non-consensus as a badge of honor. We doctors like to think medicine is the most demanding world there is. That week I met another one, and now that I've seen that level, I can't unsee it. That's the bar I'm taking home to Delphyr, so clinicians get their time back for actual patient care. Thank you Oliver Binkhorst: the week did exactly what it needed to do. 💙 #healthcare #AI #medtech #healthtech #SiliconValley And the fellow alumni Benji Metz Martijn Crijnen Mo Ahmadi, PhD Olivier Oomen Thomas Kolmans Bas Gerritsen Thiviyan Thanapalasingam
