"Healthcare will always remain human" 🫀 Due to growing pressure on healthcare systems, the need for digital and data-driven innovation is clear. Professor Marieke Spreeuwenberg is working to make healthcare more sustainable—by combining technological progress with a strong focus on the patient perspective. At the Maastricht University | Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences, her research centres on co-creation with end users, personalised care through AI, digital strategy, and digital inclusion. The shift towards hybrid care, accelerated by COVID-19 pandemic, is enabling care to be delivered more efficiently, while giving patients greater control over their health. Digital technology and AI are essential to addressing today’s challenges—but as Spreeuwenberg emphasises: "It won't be a fully robot-controlled hospital.
