👁️ Often overlooked in routine examinations, the iris provides clinically relevant insights that extend beyond its anatomical role in ocular aesthetics. The iris is a dynamic, contractile structure responsible for regulating pupil size and controlling retinal light exposure through autonomic innervation. Beyond its anatomical role in ocular aesthetics, the iris provides important clinical information during examination. Variations in iris morphology, pigmentation, and pupillary reactivity may be associated with ocular pathology or systemic disease processes.
