Last week was results week for UCL After four years of essays, late night library sessions, and developing a mild coffee addiction, I was anxiously awaiting the email with my final university results. While I’ve loved studying Geography at UCL, my final year came with a lot of guilt and anxiety. I was pouring my energy into building my podcast Empower Sounds and launching Empower Sounds Media, all while writing a dissertation, submitting coursework, and trying to enjoy what was left of university life. I constantly questioned whether I was doing enough. Whether I was stretching myself too thin. Whether splitting my time between my degree and my business meant I was compromising both. Then I got an email from my department; I had achieved the highest overall results in my degree programme. I was in shock, but I also felt this wave of relief. Because that anxiety I felt for so long was lying to me and in fact, the season of my life where I was building what I loved with intention not choosing between passions, but nurturing them all was the one in which I thrived the most. So this is your sign: You’re not behind. You’re not doing it wrong. You don’t have to choose one path to be excellent. And you’re probably doing a lot better than you think. To anyone juggling studies, startups, side passions, or simply life, I see you and I’m cheering you on :) Follow me -> Maahika Singh-> for more on creating impact through storytelling.
