At the Centre Hospitalier Elikya in Bunia, DRC, MSF teams are rapidly expanding Ebola treatment capacity as the outbreak continues to intensify across Ituri province. The Ebola Treatment Centre (ETC) has already reached a capacity of 84 beds. Additional tents and supporting infrastructure are being constructed every day to increase the facility’s capacity to care for up to 100 patients. During the first three weeks of June, 196 patients were admitted to the ETC, including 96 with a confirmed Ebola diagnosis. As of 22 June, 80 patients remained hospitalized at the facility. The centre is currently treating the largest number of Ebola patients in the country. MSF logistics teams are working around the clock to reinforce the site, preparing tent platforms, installing sanitation systems, and coordinating ongoing construction to keep pace with the growing number of patients requiring treatment.
