Your ARR is only as good as your customer cube. Before any NRR/retention talk, I sanity-check the data model itself: - Who is the “customer”? End-user/site/factory vs. billing entity vs. group. A distributor can mask real churn at the plant level if you only track the parent. - Stable IDs + hierarchy. Persistent customer IDs, plus parent→child links for groups, resellers, sites. - Product/module clarity. Separate modules/add-ons; tag upgrades vs. price increases. - Qual fields that matter. Country/region, industry, segment, plan, channel (direct/reseller), reason codes (churn/downgrade), reactivation flags. - Completeness checks. % rows with missing IDs, mismatched hierarchies, negative MRR, duplicate customers, orphaned sites.
