A family member called me a few days ago. She had started a text on Wednesday, the moment she realized she needed help with her self-care. She didn't send it. She got busy. Two days later, she was in the hospital. Mild stroke. She thought she could push through. Four days. Just four days to finish the project, then two days off. She could do it on little sleep, little nutrition, just pure will. Until her body made the decision for her. What hit me hardest wasn't just the diagnosis. It was the word that came up in conversation when she described why she hadn't stopped sooner. Inconvenient. It was inconvenient to take a break. Her co-workers had missed the signs - they assumed she was just tired. The culture around her normalized it. Skip lunch. No sleep. Long stretches. The reward for grinding is two days off. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Until a hospital bed becomes the only place you finally rest. I'm sharing this because I know some of you are holding an unsent message right now. Maybe it's to a doctor. A therapist. A coach. A friend. A family member. Someone you've been meaning to reach out to because something in you knows you need a reset, but life kept moving and you kept pushing. The signs were there for her too: - Exhaustion that sleep couldn't fix - Snapping at people for no reason - Brain fog that wouldn't lift - Irritability that felt constant Those aren't personality flaws. They're your body raising its hand. Send the text. Schedule the appointment. Take the day. Put yourself on the calendar with the same urgency you give everything else. Self-investment isn't selfish. It is the strategy - before your body turns it into a non-negotiable. Please don't wait. #WomensLeadership #BurnoutPrevention #BalanceIsAStrategy #LYVon #SelfCare #LeadYourMind #WorkplaceWellness #YouMatter
