Campaigning to preserve the cultural heritage of Brontë Country, one of the UK’s most iconic literary and cultural landscapes. Poet and editor. Producer ‘Stanbury Lives’ doc. My pamphlet ‘The Heights’ out now.
A curlew came to our garden yesterday, the very last garden before Top Withens, the farmhouse that was the inspiration for the location of Wuthering Heights in Emily Brontë’s novel of that name. He felt like the ghost of my 4xgreat grandfather Jonas Sunderland, who farmed Top Withens in the time of the Brontës. We are privileged to have had this visitor. The curlews of Walshaw Moor will not survive the massive industrial complex of Calderdale Energy Park. Shame on you, Richard Bannister, owner of the land and of Boundary Mill. Shame on you, Christopher Wilson, two-bit property developer and Bannister shooting crony. Shame on you, Saudi backers Al-Ghihaz. Shame on you, PR team Cavendish
