The Lutra Consulting team Saber Razmjooei, Patrik Mizera, and Jakub Nešpor is back from a fantastic FOSSGIS 2026 in Göttingen! Hosting around 1000 attendees, FOSSGIS remains one of the most focused conferences in our calendar, filled with QGIS-skilled users who deeply understand how to leverage open-source GIS for their business needs. The central theme at our stand was the community's strong demand for Control and Customisation. Key conversations included: 🌐 Self-Hosting & Privacy: Deploying the Mergin Maps service on private infrastructure. 🌐 Direct Database Integration: Collecting field data straight into PostGIS databases. 🌐 Avoiding Vendor Lock-in: Attendees prioritized licensing and software philosophy over pricing. Saber Razmjooei also participated in a Mergin Maps workshop, helping with technical Q&A. We will continue to highlight Mergin Maps Community Edition and our self-hosted Enterprise options as key tools for total data control. A huge thank you to the organizers for a flawless event!
