How can we better understand and improve our cognitive health? In this video, Professor Kamilla Woznica Miskowiak shares insights from her research within the ASCEND initiative, which aims to advance solutions for cognitive enhancement across neuropsychiatric and somatic diseases. Her work explores why challenges with memory, attention, and executive function occur across both mental and physical illnesses. Kamilla Miskowiak is supported by the Lundbeck Foundation’s professorship programme, which aims to strengthen Danish neuroscience through long-term funding of leading researchers. Her research addresses a critical gap: while cognitive difficulties are widespread, their underlying mechanisms remain insufficiently understood. Through ASCEND, she combines large-scale digital cognitive assessments, clinical and registry data, brain imaging, and biomarker analyses to identify risk and resilience factors and develop targeted interventions. The ambition is to enable more precise and personalised approaches to prevention and treatment in order to improve cognitive health across both brain and body.
