Is Your Brand Being Used Online Without Permission? "Is this your product on Amazon/Ebay etc.?" But it isn’t. We often hear the same story from founders and SMEs. A company builds its brand for years, investing their energy and expertise in it. Then suddenly they discover: • unauthorized sellers on marketplaces • copied product listings • ads using their trademarked name • websites offering counterfeit products And the most frustrating part is that most of these problems stay invisible for a long time because monitoring the internet manually is extremely difficult. The tricky part isn’t just “removing” the bad actors — it’s knowing they exist in the first place. Online trademark infringement is NOT a marginal issue. According to the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD): • Counterfeit and pirated goods represent around 2.3% of global trade • In EU, the share is estimated at up to 4,7% of total EU imports • SMEs are increasingly targeted because they usually lack systematic monitoring The challenge is not just enforcement. The real challenge is visibility. Brand owners need to know: • WHERE their trademark (brand) appears online • WHO is using it • HOW are they using it (legitimate or in bad faith). Only then can they decide how to act. At Lumolex we believe that online brand protection should be structured, transparent, and manageable for SMEs, not only for large corporations. How does your company currently monitor the online use of its brand? Do you use manual searches, customer reports, or something else? We’re curious to hear how you approach this challenge.
