Bas van Rhijn benoemd tot bijzonder hoogleraar Van Rhijn is benoemd tot bijzonder hoogleraar Oncologische Urologie, in het bijzonder blaaskanker. Met deze benoeming kan hij de blaaskanker-zorg, opleiding en onderzoek zowel nationaal als internationaal naar een hoger plan tillen. De leerstoel is ingesteld door het Nederlands Kanker Instituut (NKI) en is gevestigd bij het LUMC/de Universiteit Leiden. Van Rhijn heeft zich de afgelopen jaren op indrukwekkende wijze ingezet voor behandeling van en onderzoek naar blaaskanker en enkele zeldzame vormen van kanker, waaronder peniskanker, zaadbalkanker en urachus-kanker. De benoeming tot hoogleraar is een prachtige erkenning voor zijn jarenlange inzet en bijdrage aan patiëntenzorg, opleiding en wetenschap. Van Rhijn: “Begin 2024 beleefde het BlaaskankerNetwerk zijn kick-off. Dit is een regionale multidisciplinaire samenwerking van 16 ziekenhuizen uit de netwerk regio’s OncoNoVo+ en OncoWest. Het is voor de komende jaren een geweldige uitdaging om de kwaliteit van de zorg, opleiding en onderzoek van blaaskanker samen met vele betrokken en bevlogen zorgprofessionals te verbeteren.” ENGLISH BELOW 🌎 Bas van Rhijn appointed as endowed professor Van Rhijn has been appointed endowed professor of Oncological Urology, with a focus on bladder cancer. With this appointment, he can further strengthen bladder cancer care, education and research at both national and international level. The chair was established by the Netherlands Cancer Institute and is based at Leiden University Medical Center and Leiden University. In recent years, Van Rhijn has made an impressive contribution to the treatment of and research into bladder cancer and several rare cancers, including penile cancer, testicular cancer and urachal cancer. This appointment recognizes his long standing commitment and his contributions to patient care, education and science. Van Rhijn: “In early 2024, the Bladder Cancer Network had its kick off. This is a regional multidisciplinary collaboration of 16 hospitals in the OncoNoVo+ and OncoWest network regions.
